Jose Mourinho's last spell in management didn't exactly go to plan.

The Portuguese's tenure at Manchester United failed to provide Mourinho with a league title for the first time in his  managerial career since he was the boss of Portuguese side, União de Leiria.

The 56-year-old has been out of work since December and looks likely to return to management in the summer, however his destination is very much still up in the air.

Mourinho has done it all when it comes to winning trophies in club football, accumulating eight league titles in four countries.

But after Mourinho's flat performance in Manchester, he now has to face the many doubters who feel his style of play is stale and outdated.

Mourinho's resume cannot be understated though and he will no doubt still attract some of the top clubs in Europe - especially with the experience of two Champions League victories in his locker.

The Special One has worked in England, Spain, Italy and Portugal with the two obvious gaps in his CV being that he hasn't managed a club in either France or Germany.

Mourinho was asked if he would be open to managing Bayern Munich, who are the most successful German team by a country mile, and he certainly didn't rule anything out.

"It's a country I've never worked in," Mourinho said, per Record.

"Why not? Let's see.. I would like to try to win a third Champions League with a third club and to win a fifth league in a different fifth country"

Appointing Mourinho as your manager is always going to be seen as an immediate fix rather than looking long term, as the Portuguese has never completed a fourth season at any club he has been in charge of.

His next club will be his biggest challenge yet though, as once again he has something to prove with football threatening to pass him by.

Can he keep up?
