British heavyweight David Price believes Tyson Fury would beat Anthony Joshua if they were to ever fight.

In a contradictory statement, Price named Joshua as his current number one in the division over consistency, but his old rival Fury is “one of a kind.”

Price told talkSPORT: “In my opinion, if you’re going off current form and consistency in the last couple of years, you’ve gotta put Anthony Joshua at the top.

“But if it comes down to the three of them fighting each other, I think Tyson Fury would be the one who’d come out on top.”

The 35-year-old was once known to be the next big thing in the division, with Fury just behind him with an all-British encounter set to be on the cards, although, Price paid a price with TKO losses to Tony Thompson twice and Alexander Povetkin, which has seen him drop drastically down the pecking order.

During that time, Fury went on to defeat Wladimir Klitschko for the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO titles.

The Liverpudlian, speaking recently, was full of praise for his old enemy, saying: “He’s one of a kind, isn’t he? He’s so relaxed in the ring, he can just keep going and going and going. He’s got something special about him I think, and that’s what’s gonna make it hard to beat him.”

David Price is now looking to rebuild his career after two consecutive wins over Tom Little and the controversial victory over Kash Ali at the weekend.

In the fifth round with Ali bundling Price to the fall in desperation, Ali bit Price on the body, resulting in his disqualification and his license being suspended.

Price, during the same interview, also revealed how he felt over the situation.

“When he was on the floor on top of me he went a bit limp and I thought ‘he doesn’t want to get up here’, I thought he’d at least try to get up.

“The next thing I felt was his teeth sink in and I didn’t know what to do, really, it all happened quickly. It was just a bit of a mad experience.

“When I stood up and first went over to him, part of me wanted to just lay him out there and then.”

Price will now be set to see how the heavyweight division unfolds with Fury and Deontay Wilder not having their supposedly scheduled rematch and both of them denying the boxing fans what they want to see.

Fury fighting undefeated German Tom Schwarz in Las Vegas on June 15, and Wilder fighting Dominic Breazeale on May 18, who has fallen to defeat against Anthony Joshua.

Joshua, however, will face title contender Jarrell Miller at Madison Square Garden on June 1, where he will look to remain number one, certainly in Price's eyes.

It seems as though our British boxers are out for a big pay out before they have their career defining fights against each other.
