Unfortunately, racism is still prevalent in world football.

England players were the target from racist abuse in their Euro 2010 qualifier against Montenegro last week.

Callum Hudson-Odoi opened up after the game about how the Montenegro fans were acting.

“When I went over there, Rosey and I heard it,” he said, per the Guardian. “They were saying monkey stuff.

"When you are hearing stuff like that from the fans, it’s not right... it’s unacceptable and hopefully UEFA deal with it properly.”

All in all, England players handled the situation brilliantly.

They eventually won 5-1, with Raheem Sterling even hitting back at the crowd after scoring his goal.

But, Romelu Lukaku thinks they should have acted differently.

The England striker believes that England's players should have walked off the pitch to 'make a statement.'

“England should have walked off I think, personally. To make a statement," he told Sky Sports news, per the Daily Mail.

“I have seen it happen in countries and then the team would get sentenced and stuff like that.

“For some players, it gives us an edge, but other players can overreact, then you make a foul and you are a man down.

“It’s something that us players have to stand up and talk about, so the people in top positions do something."

Interesting stuff. The whole episode has already brought a lot of attention, but walking off the pitch certainly would have pushed for more action to be taken.

Montenegro have been charged but a punishment has not yet been given.

Perhaps, if England did walk off the pitch, their punishment would have been more severe.

Lukaku then commented that the whole racism issue in football should be 'fixed'.

“It should be fixed and sorted because football is a multicultural game.

“We do a lot of stuff for a lot of people, so let’s not forget about the racism issue. I hope we can fix it. It’s going to take time.”
