Manchester United have lost ground in the race for the Premier League top four after being beaten 2-1 by Wolves.Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made six changes to the team that beat Watford on Saturday, with the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Jesse Lingard and Fred all recalled to the starting line-up.United raced out of the blocks and could have been ahead after just five minutes.A glorious cross from Diogo Dalot was met by Romelu Lukaku, but his header from two yards out was straight at Rui Patricio.But the Red Devils did find themselves ahead with 13 minutes played.

Scott McTominay's strike from 25 yards out made it's way past Patricio via the post.

That was the Scotsman's first goal for United on his 41st appearance.

United should have made it two just a matter of minutes later, with Jesse Lingard spurning a glorious chance in the box.

And they were made to pay as Wolves were level shortly after.

A poor touch from Fred gave possession to the home side in a dangerous position and Wolves would take full advantage.

Raúl Jiménez found Diego Jota just inside the box and the Portuguese fired his effort past David de Gea to level the scores.

Man United continued to struggle in the second half and their task was made a lot harder when Ashley Young received his marching orders.

Young received his second yellow card when he dived into a challenge on Jota.

In truth, he was lucky that he didn't pick up a straight red card for that challenge.

It was always going to be a tough task for United and Wolves scored the winner with 13 minutes to go.

Chris Smalling managed to score an own-goal while under pressure from Leander Dendoncker to give Wolves the victory.

Man United stay in fifth, although they could drop to sixth if Chelsea win their game in hand.
