Racism reared its ugly head once again in football last night.

After weeks littered with horrendous incidents, Juventus pair Moise Kean and Blaise Matuidi were subjected to unforgivable abuse by Cagliari fans.

Kean took a brave stance and stood up to the supporters directing abuse at him, standing with his arms raised and staring the crowd down after scoring the second goal in the 2-0 win.

It should have been an act praised by all his teammates, but Leonardo Bonucci actually stated after the game that the 19-year-old starlet should not have celebrated in front of the fans.

Bonucci told Sky Sport Italia, per BBC: "Kean knows that when he scores a goal, he has to focus on celebrating with his team-mates. He knows he could've done something differently too.

"There were racist jeers after the goal. Blaise (Matuidi) heard it and was angered. I think the blame is 50-50, because Moise shouldn't have done that and the Curva (fans) should not have reacted that way."

Simply unforgivable from a supposed 'teammate'.

Thankfully, Juve captain Giorgio Chiellini has leapt to the defence of Kean and stated that he did nothing wrong last night - which he certainly didn't.

"Moise is an asset to Italian football, a golden boy who is doing his best and he doesn't have to pretend to be something he's not," Chiellini said, per ITV.

"I don't really remember what happened while I was on the pitch, but I've seen the pictures of Moise and he didn't do anything wrong.

"You have to think of him like people do (Nicolo) Zaniolo, (Federico) Chiesa, (Nicolo) Barella (who are all young Italy internationals)... as a positive representation of Italian football, because he deserves that status.

"The only thing he got wrong yesterday was the dive, which I'm sure he won't repeat, but he's here to learn. He's a very positive person and certainly didn't deserve the insults he received."

Hopefully the Cagliari fans are severely punished for their actions, as should Bonucci, who's dangerous comments are a major part of the appalling racism issue in football right now.
