There's a growing sense amongst Arsenal fans that Shkodran Mustafi is living on borrowed time at the club.

Signed in 2016 for £35m, making him one of the most expensive defenders in history, the German made a bright start to life in north London but slowly allowed mistakes to plague his game.

Whether it's misplacing simple passes in dangerous areas or making silly fouls by going to ground too easily, Mustafi has become a source of frustration for Gooners.

So far this Premier League campaign he's given away two cheap penalties and on both occasions they cost Arsenal victory.

Back in October, during a 2-2 draw away to Crystal Palace, Mustafi hacked down Cheikhou Kouyate in the box to give the hosts the chance to go 1-0 ahead, which they took.

And against Tottenham last month, Arsenal were winning 1-0 until Mustafi needlessly pushed Harry Kane in the back at a free-kick to send him tumbling. Kane scored and the game ended 1-1.

Arsenal might have won both games had it not been for Mustafi's recklessness and he had another rocky game against Newcastle on Monday night.

The 26-year-old looked uncomfortable in a back three and on one occasion he undid some hard work by sending a cross into row Z. Arsenal fans didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

A summer move seems likely, which is a shame because Mustafi is a fine centre-back on his day and has so much potential.

But he makes too many mistakes and now a compilation video has emerged of his most embarrassing errors as an Arsenal player.

Poor bloke. Should Unai Emery decide to sell Mustafi, the Spanish manager needs to bring in a genuine world-class centre-back to improve his defence.

Arsenal have shipped too many goals this season and someone like Kalidou Koulibaly or Raphael Varane would help stem the tide.

A lot depends on how much money the Gunners have to spend, though, not to mention whether they can secure Champions League football for next season.
