Lionel Messi is very, very good at football.

You could say he's the best in the world, you could say he's the best of all time.

In terms of doing things that you've never seen before, you'd have to say that he probably is the latter - he's made scoring world-class goals a routine.

Be it dribbling past a ridiculous number of defenders, finishing from a ridiculous angle, or placing a free-kick to perfection, Messi finds a way to score when it looks impossible.

The latter, in fact, is a new trait of Messi's. Despite never being a true dead ball expert, he's now got twice as many free-kick goals as anyone else in the last two years.

Nothing really sums up just how good Messi's goals are like Barcelona's recent poll to decide their greatest ever goal.

Their current number ten placed third, second, and first in the vote.

His incredible goals have even prompted one Twitter user to make a compilation video of all the times Messi nearly scored an amazing goal.

He doesn't have a 100% success rate with his runs, of course, but the video is more impressive than most players could manage with a 'Top Ten Goals' compilation.

That's despite not a single goal being scored in this one.

You can check it out below:

With all the amazing goals he's scored, you do forget just how often Messi makes the seemingly impossible look easy.

Because it's not just when he smashes one into the net that he's accomplished something truly breathtaking.

When he dribbles past five only to put it narrowly wide, it's still an incredible sight.

There has never been anyone quite like Messi - and there really may never be again.
