Manchester City will return to Wembley for the fifth time this season for the FA Cup final on May 18.

Pep Guardiola's side were not at their best but saw off an admirable effort from Brighton, Gabriel Jesus scoring the game's only goal within just four minutes.

The quadruple is still on, a disappointment no doubt to English football's romantics who would dearly have loved to see the Seagulls cause an upset.

However, the occasion wasn't entirely devoid of romance thanks to the kindness of Raheem Sterling.

By now, you'll likely have heard that the England international forked out his own money to buy 550 match tickets for children from his old school.

The 24-year-old grew up near Wembley and attended Copland community school, which has since become the Ark Elvin academy.

As reported by The Guardian, the forward was conscious that many of the kids were from similar minority ethnic backgrounds to his own.

Much has been said about what an excellent role model Sterling has been of late, and with good reason, particularly given the leading part he has played in the campaign to rid football of racism.

His latest gesture has received huge praise, with the school's principle Rebecca Curtis explaining to the same newspaper:

"The vast majority of our pupils have never been inside Wembley, let alone seen such a big game with one of our old boys playing.”

A handful of the students were interviewed at half-time, all of them donning City scarves.

It quickly emerged that they were not actually City fans, probably unsurprisingly given that they're from London.

None of them supported City

In fact, two of them supported Manchester United, one Arsenal, and one Chelsea. Awkward...

Although the club have taken their fair share of stick for failing to sell out their allocation, Sterling deserves a huge amount of credit for seizing that opportunity and providing these youngsters with an unforgettable day.

It's also worth remembering that City fans have yet another costly trip down to the capital on Tuesday night, when they play Tottenham Hotspur in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final.

Whatever their critics say, it's shaping up to be another glorious end of the season for the Etihad faithful - even if that doesn't include anyone from the Ark Elvin Academy.
