Big things were expected of Memphis Depay when he joined Manchester United in 2015.

The Dutchman was touted as one of Europe's wonderkids while playing for PSV Eindhoven and he burst onto the scene at the 2014 World Cup.

After a successful showing in Brazil, he was subject to reported interest from a number of Premier League clubs - Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester United and Liverpool.

But rather than moving to England, Depay stuck with PSV for one more season in the Eredivisie.

During that campaign, he impressed once again, scoring 22 goals in 30 league appearances and the following summer, he eventually moved on.

Amid interest from Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, it was Man United who secured his signature for £30 million.

But, things didn't go to plan at Old Trafford.

Depay never fulfilled his potential under either Louis van Gaal or Jose Mourinho and in his first season, netted just twice in 29 games.

Things got even worse in his second year as the forward featured just four times in the Premier league - all as a substitute.

In January 2017 he jumped ship to Lyon, where he's been ever since. And it's in France that Depay has been reigniting his career.

In just over two and a half seasons, he has 35 goals in all competitions and is beginning to attract the interest of Europe's top clubs once again.

According to the Mirror, one of those teams interested is Liverpool. The report suggests that Depay is back on the Anfield side's radar - four years after they first missed out on signing him in 2015.

And, after an impressive stay in France, the £50 million-rated forward is ready to give it another try at one of Europe's biggest teams.

The Mirror also report that Depay is a potential replacement for Sadio Mane, who's being linked with Real Madrid.

Although the Reds have no intention of selling their star player, they have been forced to scout potential replacements, which is why Depay is back on Liverpool's radar.
