There has never been any question of Hatem Ben Arfa's raw talent on a football pitch.

The Frenchman continues to prove that his ability borders on world-class when he's on form, but his career hasn't reached the heights it might have and he's endured as something of a cult hero.

Ben Arfa showed his class to a Premier League audience during his time with Newcastle United and scored some truly remarkable goals during his time at St. James' Park.

His stunning run and finish against Blackburn Rovers was nominated for FIFA's Puskas Award, while he cut Bolton Wanderers in half with a similarly brilliant goal the same season.

Since then, Ben Arfa's has been on something of a rollercoaster ride - flitting between months of remarkable form and episodes that threaten to send his career flying off the rails.

Ben Arfa enjoying life at Rennes

Exiles at Hull City and Paris Saint-Germain have represented obvious lows in the last five years, while a stunning season with Nice stands out as the obvious highlight.

So, it might seem surprising that Ben Arfa is having something of a steady season and has been quietly going about his business with Rennes.

The 32-year-old is enjoying a decent run of form in Ligue 1, boasting a record of five goals in 15 appearances but isn't quite reaching the heights of his glory days.

Ben Arfa's dribbling vs Angers

Nevertheless, Ben Arfa provided football fans with something of a throwback during Rennes' game with Angers this weekend and it came in the form of a stunning individual goal.

The forward reminded everybody that he's still one of the best dribblers in the sport, passing more than half of the opposition's players before finding the net.

He spent over 15 seconds on the ball and although he needed a one-two to complete the move, it should still be considered one of the best Ligue 1 goals of the season.

Take a look at the video down below:

You'd think he had superglue on his boots.

Ben Arfa had no right to create a goalscoring opportunity from that deep and it's incredible how composed he remained on the ball when closed down by as many as three Angers defenders.

However, the remarkable strike wasn't enough to collect three points for Rennes, who won't be retaining their place in European football.

Goals from Jeff Reine-Adelaide and Stéphane Bahoken saw Angers respond to the brilliant run, only for M'Baye Niang to equalise and Ben Arfa to convert from the penalty spot.

Nevertheless, another strike Reine-Adelaide - arriving in the 92nd minute - was enough to ensure the spoil were shared at the Stade Raymond Kopa.

Something tells us the game will be remembered for Ben Arfa's goal, mind.
