Timothy Fosu-Mensah is the fastest player in the Premier League in 2018/19

Timothy Fosu-Mensah has been the fastest player in the league this season

Timothy Fosu-Mensah has officially been the fastest player in the Premier League this season.

While the Dutchman hasn't exactly thrived during his loan spell with Fulham from Manchester United, he has shown his extraordinary athletic ability.

The 21-year-old - who has been capped three times at senior international level - has made just 11 appearances for Fulham in the Premier League this season.

However, during one of those showings he managed to clock a frightening top speed of 21.95mph, or 35.35kph.

As per The Sun, Fosu-Mensah's speed is pretty astonishing when you compare it to renowned Manchester City speedster Leroy Sane.

The German winger is actually the fastest player ever recorded in Premier League history with a ridiculous figure of 22.05mph.

But this season, the former Schalke man could only manage a speed of 21.86mph, which leaves him in third place behind Wolves' Ruben Vinagre and Fosu-Mensah.

You can view the top six below.

The current table

Just missing out on the top six were Ryan Sessegnon, Raheem Sterling, Mohamed Salah, Issac Mbenza and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The likes of Sadio Mane, Pierre-Emerick Aubamyeang and Marcus Rashford - all players that possess explosive pace - miss out completely.

Back in 2017, a study was conducted to find out the fastest player in the world for the year.

As per AS, the winner that time was Real Madrid's Gareth Bale who posted a speed of 36.90kph.

Bale & Fosu-Mensah fight for the ball

Manchester United's Antonio Valencia was the fastest Premier League player in that study on 35.10kph, which earned him the fifth spot on the list.

Fosu-Mensah's speed this season would have earned third spot on 2017's list, behind Bale and Colombian Orlando Berrio.

It just further highlights how impressive the Dutchman's pace was this season.

The question now remains as to whether he can play any part in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans for next season...
