Port Vale failed to take advantage of npower League leaders Chesterfield's inactivity, going down 3-0 at Gillingham when a win would have taken them top.

Cody McDonald opened the scoring in the first minute and got a second eight minutes from half time. Adebayo Akinfenwa completed Vale's misery on the hour.

Down at the foot of the table, two goals from Greg Tansey, one from the penalty spot, gave Stockport a 3-1 victory at Barnet.

George Donnelly opened the scoring for County in the 51st minute before Izale McLeod equalised three minutes later.

Then Tansey took the game by the scruff of the neck scoring in the 73rd and 79th minute, the latter from the penalty spot.

It was also a bad day for Bradford, once of the Premier League, who were hammered 4-0 by Cheltenham.

Jeff Goulding scored twice in the 31st and 67th minutes with Marlon Pack also on target in the first half.

He found the net in the 35th minute and Wesley Thomas completed the rout 14 minutes from time.

Meanwhile Oxford secured all three points with a 2-1 home win against Macclesfield.

Simon Heslop made the breakthrough in the 17th minute and James Constable added a second in the 70th minute before Reneil Sappleton scored a consolation goal 12 minutes later.
