Reports are emerging from Germany that Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski and Kingsley Coman were involved in a fist fight during training on Thursday.

According to Bild, punches were thrown and both players got hit in the face after they had traded verbal insults.

It was a comment made by Lewandowski towards Coman - which infuriated the Frenchman - that sparked the brawl.

Niklas Sule and Jerome Boateng were reportedly among several Bayern players that tried to separate the pair, who refused to calm down.

Once peace was restored, Bayern manager Niko Kovac allowed both of them to continue training instead of returning to the dressing room, much to the players' surprise.

Bayern's training session was only open to the media ahead of Sunday's trip to mid-table Bundesliga side Fortuna Dusseldorf.

Last weekend's 5-0 victory against Borussia Dortmund saw the Bavarians leapfrog their rivals to go top of the table.

Six games remain of the 2018/19 Bundesliga campaign and Lewandowski and Coman's bust-up won't do Bayern's chances of defending the title any good.

Kovac will need to settle the issue as soon as possible to ensure his players remain focused and united.
