It proved to be a night to forget for Manchester United on Wednesday after the Reds lost 1-0 at home to Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-finals.And to make matters worse, the man at the heart of the winning goal was none other than former Liverpool star Luis Suarez. The Barca forward drilled in a shot which was converted into his own net by Luke Shaw meaning United must overturn a first-leg deficit at Camp Nou next week. And one man who watched on from the stands was Suarez’s former Liverpool team-mate Jamie Carragher. For someone who spent his whole senior career at Anfield, it wouldn’t have been hard for the former defender to hide a smile at the score-line.

However, it proved not to be Carragher who had the final laugh.

That’s because 13-year-old United fan Molly Kay trolled the Liverpool legend during the game after the pair had a picture together.

The supporter was snapped with Carragher at half-time holding up one hand which had ’20 times’ written on it, highlighting United’s 20 Premier League titles against Liverpool’s 18.

Brutal from the youngster.

And following the game, her dad, Stevie, recalled how it all unfolded via Manchester Evening News, saying: “I said 'Go and have a photo with Carragher' and she said 'I'm not having a photo with him, he's a Scouser!'

"So I said 'write 20 times on your hand and go and have it with your hand showing'. I went to take the photo first and it didn't take so we had to go and ask him again.

"He didn't know anything about it until someone put it on Twitter and tagged him in it. He retweeted it and commented as well. He's taken it in good spirits to be fair to him!"

Here’s how Carragher reacted:

Molly and Stevie will both be hoping their side return to winning ways on Saturday as attentions turn back to the league as they welcome West Ham to Old Trafford.
