You can forgive football fans for not having Burnley vs Cardiff City at the front of their minds this weekend. The match pitted two teams near the bottom of the Premier League amongst one another, with neither side having produced the most exciting brands of football this season. However, there was no shortage of drama during the game at Turf Moor this afternoon, both in conventional and rather unexpected circumstances.Sean Dyche's men took an early lead through Chris Wood's header, but it was the visitors who enjoyed the majority of the first-half opportunities. There was controversial moment where the assistant referee awarded Cardiff a penalty for handball, only for Mike Dean to infuriate Neil Warnock by reversing the decision.

Nevertheless, the highlight of the game was none of the above but rather a bizarre moment that could be talked about in the Premier League for some time.

That's because Ashley Barnes was essentially booked for kissing Joe Bennett.

You heard us right. During a heated exchange which saw both players bring their heads close to one another, the Burnley striker suddenly saw the lighter side of the situation.

Barnes kisses Bennett

Barnes decided to land his lips on the nose of Bennett not once, but twice before receiving a yellow card for his actions.

The Cardiff man was also slapped with a booking for the challenge that caused the clash.

It caused bewilderment across social media with many claiming that they'd never seen anything like it and Gary Lineker couldn't resist taking to Twitter himself.

The Match of the Day presenter wrote: "Ashley Barnes has received a yellow card after coming face-to-face with Joe Bennett. Barnes kissed Bennet on the nose (honestly), not once but twice. Lucky perhaps not to get 2 yellows. 💋💋"
