The infamous Footy Leaks has been at it again after releasing more damning information surrounding Chelsea’s abuse of the Financial Fair Play rules.

The Blues, who were recently slapped with a two-transfer window ban certainly won’t like what has been revealed as it shows that their appeal against the ban may have little chance of gaining any ground.

According to the site the Stamford Bridge side offered a sum of £120,000 to 12-year-old Croatian ’keeper Karlo Ziger as a ‘signing bonus’.

Ziger now plays in the Chelsea youth set-up but only once he turned 16 and became legally allowed to sign for the London club.

In the meantime, investigations show that Chelsea paid the rent for a home in London for Ziger and his family after he disappeared from Croatian football’s playing records in 2014.

According to German publication Die Spiegel, during an interview with a Croatian magazine, Ziger’s father revealed that the family had moved to London in early 2014 while also stating that he was registered as an employee of the club as well.

Leaks even managed to identify a residency permit that validated the father’s story.

That same Croatian magazine also went on to claim that the process of signing Ziger eventually added up to £808,000.

Ziger’s name vanished from records in Croatia in February 2014 before reappearing as an official Chelsea player four years later.

It’s a bizarre sequence of events but shows exactly why Chelsea find themselves in quite a spot of bother.

Paying for the family’s rent and permits seems like quite a lot of fuss but it does ensure they get their hands on some of the brightest youth prospects on the planet.

Unfortunately, it’s cheating, and Chelsea are set to pay the price.

Should their appeal against their two-window ban fail, the club could be in for a hugely challenging 18 months going forward.

If they are to lose Eden Hazard, as is looking increasingly likely, they really could find themselves deep in the mire.
