Liverpool returned to the top of the Premier League in style on Sunday as they beat Chelsea 2-0.

Sadio Mane's header and Mohamed Salah's rocket sealed victory for the Reds following Manchester City's 3-1 win over Crystal Palace.

The gap at the top is now back to two points, though City have a game in hand and will be crowned champions if they win their remaining fixtures.

Liverpool made a strong start at Anfield and could have opened the scoring inside six minutes when Salah pealed away at the back post to meet Mane's cross.

But the Egyptian caught the ball with his shin and shot straight at Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Eight minutes later Salah was involved again as he dribbled into the box and went down under a challenge from David Luiz. The referee said no and replays showed it was a dive.

Clear-cut chances were few and far between for both sides throughout the rest of the first half, with Eden Hazard and Mane both unable to take advantage of promising attacks.

Into the second period and the deadlock was finally broken in the 51st minute when Jordan Henderson found Mane at the back post to head home.

Anfield erupted - but the best was yet to come.

Minutes later, Salah cut inside and unleashed an unstoppable strike into the top-left corner from 25 yards out that gave Kepa no chance.

Salah has scored some incredible goals for Liverpool, but this might be his best yet.

Hazard then had two golden opportunities to draw a goal back for Chelsea, only the Belgian was denied by the post in a one-on-one with Alisson and saw his second effort smartly saved.

In the end Liverpool hung on to win 2-0 and move a step closer towards winning the Premier League. Next up is a trip to Cardiff City.
