Paris Saint-Germain's wait to clinch the Ligue 1 title will go on another week after they were thrashed 5-1 by Lille.PSG could have won the title last week but failed to do so after drawing 2-2 at home to Strasbourg. That draw featured one of the worst misses of all-time from Maxim Coupo-Moting.They went into their game against second-placed Lille on Sunday knowing that a point would be enough. But the visitors fell behind after just seven minutes.

Nanitamo Ikone's dangerous cross was turned into his own next by Thomas Meunier to mark a terrible start for PSG.

However, PSG would go down to 10 men with nine minutes to go in the first half.

Bernat was sent off after bringing down Nicolas Pepe when he was one-on-one with the goalkeeper.

It did look like a controversial decision; the contact was minimal and the ball may have been going through to Alphonse Areola.

But, despite protests from the PSG players, the decision went to VAR and Bernat's sending off was confirmed.

The first half also featured two disallowed goals by Mbappe, while three players were also forced off with injury, including PSG captain Thiago Silva and Meunier.

Despite the man disadvantage, PSG had the first chance of the second half, with Thilo Kehrer missing the target from close range.

And his miss proved costly as Pepe ran through to put the home side in front once again.

PSG would then capitulate after further goals from Jonathan Bamba, Gabriel dos Santos Magalhaes and Jose Fonte.

That means they conceded five goals for the first time in France since 2000, and was also their heaviest defeat since 2010.

What an awful night for PSG.
