Paris Saint-Germain’s wait for the Ligue 1 title continues after they were thrashed 5-1 by second-placed Lille on Sunday night.
Thomas Tuchel’s side only needed a point to become French champions for the second successive season - but the champagne remains on ice after they suffered their heaviest league defeat since 2010.
PSG hadn’t conceded five goals in Ligue 1 since 2000. This was also their biggest defeat in any competition since Barcelona’s famous 6-1 comeback against them in the Champions League in March 2017.
“We’re going to be champions but we cannot lose like this,” Kylian Mbappe, who assisted Juan Bernat for PSG’s only goal of the game, was quoted as saying by Reuters after the match.
“It’s not normal. We lack personality, it’s one of our flaws, we have to correct this. We played like debutants.”

This was the second weekend in a row that PSG have failed to wrap up the title.
They had the opportunity to become champions last weekend but were held to a 2-2 home draw by Strasbourg.
But Sunday’s defeat at the Stade Pierre Mauroy was a huge embarrassment for the Ligue 1 champions-elect, who will have another chance to get the job done against Nantes on Wednesday night.
While fingers will be pointed at the players and coaching staff following such a humiliating result, does the blame actually lie with Canadian rapper Drake?
You’ve probably heard about the ‘Drake Curse’ by now.
Basically, whenever Drake meets a sports star or worn a particular team’s gear, things end badly for the sports star or team in question.
The University of Kentucky and Toronto Raptors basketball teams, as well as Conor McGregor, have all fallen victims to the curse.
And, in recent weeks, so too have various footballers including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Jadon Sancho and Sergio Aguero.
Now PSG have become the latest victims of the bizarre ‘Drake Curse’ after Layvin Kurzawa, who came off the bench against Lille, posed for a photo with posed for a photo with the rapper two days earlier.
It’s officially getting weird now.
What started off as a coincidence is now becoming something that feels a lot spookier.
Footballers: if you want your teams to be successful between now and the end of the season, steer well clear of Drake.
