No one gave Ajax a prayer when they drew Real Madrid in the Champions League last 16.Their chances of progressing to the quarter-finals looked extremely slim after they were defeated 2-1 in the first leg at the Johan Cruijff ArenA.However, they produced a quite incredible performance at the Bernabeu. They eventually shocked the Spanish giants 4-1 in the second leg to knock the reigning champions out.Despite their victory, they were perhaps still viewed as one of the easier teams left in the competition.

And, after drawing Juventus, many expected them to bow out in the quarter-finals.

But they pulled off another incredible upset.

After the first leg ended 1-1, Ajax put in an unbelievable performance as they beat the Italians 2-1 in Turin.

Proceedings looked bleak for the Dutch club when they fell behind in the first half to a Cristiano Ronaldo header.

But they immediately fought back through Donny van de Beek, and Matthijs de Light's header with just over 20 minutes to go sealed the victory.

In truth, the scoreline could have been even more.

They were tremendous in Italy and played some quite lovely football.

One clip has emerged of them playing 'Total Football' and it shows just how good they are.

Watch it below:

Quite majestic.

The pace and precision of those passes were incredible.

It's just a shame that the passage of play didn't end in a goal, but still it's just one clip showing Juventus simply couldn't live with them.

One man that clearly enjoyed himself was Ajax's director of football, Marc Overmars.

The Dutchman celebrated his side's win by belly sliding on the pitch in front of the Ajax fans.

Naturally, Ajax drew plenty of plaudits for their performance.

Alessandro del Piero, who used to play for Juventus, said of them, per Gabriele Marcotti: "What impresses me most isn’t the work rate or technical ability, both of which are exceptional.

"It’s the way they fill the pitch, their understanding of space and time, their tactical nous... all at such a young age."

Rio Ferdinand also raved about Ajax and De Ligt in particular.

"De Ligt is the best young centre-half on the planet," he said on BT Sport.

"Ball-playing, beautiful, majestic... scored a huge goal there as well.

"The blend they've got with the younger and older players... Tadic, given away by Southampton is producing miracles in the Champions League this year.

"It's exciting times for Ajax."
