Liverpool are again being linked with a January move for Dutch international Eljero Elia.

The Hamburg winger was heavily linked with an Anfield switch in the summer, and Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson is again thought to be interested in signing the player.

Wolfsburg boss Steve McLaren is also thought to be keen on the player, and despite the Bundesliga outfit being favourites, Liverpool are thought to have a good chance of landing the €11 million-rated former Twente ace.

Dutch publication ELF Voetbal report that a Merseyside move could be 'on the cards' in the opening month of 2011, although the report also claims that the move for the player hinges on Liverpool off-loading Ryan Babel.

The Dutchman has flattered to deceive at Anfield since arriving under Rafa Benitez, and could be loaned out in January despite the club turning down an offer from Birmingham in January.

Liverpool have money to spend following the arrival of NESV as the new owners on Merseyside, and the Reds could afford the transfer fee should they wish to move for Elia.

Hodgson is thought to have a transfer wish list of 'five or six' players, although it is unconfirmed as to whether Elia is on the Liverpool list.
