As top-class athletes, professional sports players are expected by fans to be both agile and flexible. But few would have failed to have been impressed by Collin Mchugh's Matrix-style reflexes during the Houston Astros' match against the Oakland Athletics early this morning. The Astros were leading 3-0 in the bottom of the second when pitcher Mchugh threw the ball to Athletics baseman Kendrys Morales.Morales connected with the ball well, and hit it straight back in the direction it had come from and towards Mchugh's head.Yet, somehow, Mchugh managed to contort his body in order to miss the ball altogether, which flew millimeters above his chest. It was just like watching Keanu Reeves' Neo in the 1999 sci-fi blockbuster.Houston's shortstop Carlos Correa was than able to recover the ball and ended up turning it in to a double-play for the Astros.Unsurprisingly, the fans were astounded by Mchugh's move in his attempt to avoid being hit full-on by the missile. It was a good moment on a great day for Houston, who ended up winning the game 9-1.The victory takes their record for the season to 12-5, and they now lead the AL West division in the MLB.

The Oakland Athletics, who are best known outside of the US for being the first team in 100 years to win 20 consecutive years in American League baseball under the tutelage of Billy Beane, which was chronicled in the film Moneyball, are not having as good as season as last night's opponents.

Their record for this campaign currently stands at 10-10, and they sit second-bottom of the AL West division.

The nine-time World Series Champions will be hoping to improve quickly as they look to reach the end of season play-offs for just the second time in five years.

The Astros and the Athletics will face off again tomorrow in the second leg of the mini-series.
