Tottenham Hotspur knocked Manchester City out of the Champions League on Wednesday night in an incredible game.

Five goals in the opening 21 minutes split the tie wide open - City had the lead on the night, but Spurs still led on away goals.

And the drama continued all the way into second-half stoppage time with the score 4-4 on aggregate.

Raheem Sterling thought he'd sent City into the semi-finals in the 93rd minute only for VAR to rule the goal out for offside.

It meant the game finished at 4-4, Spurs going through on away goals. The match was a classic and one of the best of the season - and they're set to do it all again on Saturday.

Spurs will travel back to the Etihad for a Premier League meeting, with both teams desperately needing wins.

City need three points to return to the top of the Premier League, of course, while Spurs can't afford to slip up in the race for the top four.

But Sky pundit, and former Manchester United captain, Gary Neville believes Mauricio Pochettino's side should ignore that and rest their players for the game.

"An amazing game and well done to Spurs," he wrote. "All your players must be really tired. Take a rest Saturday!"

There's a chance he's not being entirely serious there...

A win for City hurts Liverpool's chances of Premier League glory, of course, and Neville would clearly rather see that.

It's not the first time he's suggested that a team should rest players against City, either - he argued the same point, albeit seriously, about Manchester United.

“If they [United] beat City, but lose to Chelsea, they still end up out of the top four," he told Sky Sports. “If they lose to City, but beat Chelsea, they’re in the top four.

“My point is, in terms of priority, if they were to win against Everton on Sunday, the game to sort of change players round a little bit would be the City game."

It'll be interesting to see Neville's reasoning for Burnley needing to rest against City in a week's time.
