With Anthony Joshua starving for a new opponent following the failed drug test of Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller that saw him test positive for the substance GW1516, someone has finally broken the silence claiming it could be himself.

American boxing star Michael Hunter has spoken to the media and confirmed that it very likely may be him stepping in for Miller's absence at Madison Square Garden on June 1 to go up against the notorious Joshua.

The 30-year-old has been made a top priority for Miller's replacement because boxing promoter Eddie Hearn's main criteria was to replace Miller with another American.

Hunter joins a five-man shortlist which includes the likes of Luis Ortiz, Adam Kownacki, Mahmoud (Manuel) Charr and Agit Kabayel who are further down due to a lack of US ties.

Jermaine Franklin and Trevor Bryan are amongst other potential names due to having US passports.

Out of all the aforementioned names, it seems that Hunter remains the most likely to take over for Miller and he had quite a bit to say to the media platform Love Sport Radio about it.

“I like the sound of [the AJ fight]. It’s heavyweight boxing so any time you get to that weight class. Everybody has dynamite in their hands,” Hunter told Love Sport Radio, as per World Boxing News..

“I’ve been training all my life for fights like this so I would not miss the chance to fight Anthony Joshua.

“I respect him because he’s won a gold medal, he’s done amazing things in the pro game and he’s big and strong. He has a lot of people behind him.

“He’s a great fighter and he has accomplished a lot of things. The things that people do say about him is that he is a little green in certain areas and he is still learning.

“But he is always willing to learn so that’s always a good thing. If I fight him, it’s definitely going to be a test and all the truths will come out.

“There are a handful of guys who should all be competing with each other and can make great fights happen. But I don’t think he stands out as the top one.”

With this statement, Hunter seems to show only excitement for the potential bout, while also understanding how big of a challenge it will be to face off against one of England's best while also showing immense respect for his counterpart across the pond.

Now, all the media can do is hope and wait to see if this potential fight will come to fruition and it certainly looks very promising at the moment and there could soon be a very good fight on the hands of all boxing fans.
