If there's any WWE superstar that knows what it feels like to be at the bottom of the barrel, it's Drew McIntyre.

The Scottish Psychopath was once anointed 'The Chosen One' by Vince McMahon himself. Those lofty ambitions did see him capture the Intercontinental Championship, but the fresh-faced superstar failed to live up to his massive potential at the time.

ADVERSITY

If anything, it was a downward spiral where he went from a potential world champion, to competing as part of 3MB alongside Heath Slater and Jinder Mahal.

Arguably, the best thing that ever happened to McIntyre was that he was released from his contract, prompting him to start from scratch and make a serious name for himself in the independent scene.

So, it came as no surprise that the WWE came knocking again where he benefited from a run in NXT, something that wasn't easily available back then.

Now, he's on the verge of breaking into the Universal Championship picture on Monday Night RAW, following some high-profile feuds against the likes of Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns.

Recently, we've seen more and more stars becoming brave and speaking out on social media about their positions in the company - something that doesn't sit well with McIntyre.

McIntyre is someone that has been in that position before and can be seen as the embodiment of hard work.

LACK OF OPPORTUNITY

In an interview with sj-r.com, McIntyre commented on the WWE superstars that have started to complain online about their spots in WWE.

According to NoDQ, he said: "I can look around now and see people who have lost perspective.

"They're perhaps tweeting about how upset they are and their lack of opportunity instead of bettering themselves or working harder outside of the ring.

"They're clearly not going to the gym and they don't have that fire anymore, and I understand it because I was there. And I can spot it because I was that guy.

"It's my job and my character's job to get rid of those who don't necessarily have that fire and remind me of my younger self."

With more and more stars speaking out, they should look towards McIntyre to see that hard work can pay off.
