It has been a funny old season at Real Madrid.

The Spanish super club haven’t come anywhere close to matching the heights of their previous few seasons, lurching from one bizarre result to the next.

Their challenge for the La Liga title has fallen flat and they were knocked out of their beloved Champions League in the round of 16 by underdogs Ajax.

The club’s hierarchy quickly turned to Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane to right the rocking ship but it is proving to be a more difficult task than originally thought, even for a three-time European champion manager.

There is expected to be a flurry of change amongst the aging squad in the summer as Zidane looks to haul the club back to the top where they belong.

However, some good news has emerged from the club today with Marca revealing that Los Blancos are on the brink of extending their deal with kit supplier Adidas.

Discussions are in progress over a staggering £1.25 billion deal that will massively eclipse any kit deal in the world right now.

The mouth watering deal will last 12 lucrative years with the German supplier set to open a new state-of-the-art megastore at the Bernabeu stadium.

It is claimed that Madrid will receive 20% of sales related to their products as well.

With a predicted extra £103 million coming into the club per year, Zidane will have even more cash to spend on his squad.

With a move for Chelsea talisman Eden Hazard on the cards, the Spaniards will need all the cash they can get.

Other players will come and go in the summer as well, and the final tally could add up to quite a fee.

While Madrid are already one the richest clubs in Europe, the odd billion pound deal can’t hurt.

The Madrid hierarchy will be laughing all the way to the bank.
