Manchester City and Liverpool are destined for one the tightest Premier League title races in recent memory, with just one point separating the two sides and four games to play.

Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp have both had fantastic seasons, with Guardiola already winning the League Cup for City and reaching the FA Cup final, whilst Liverpool have a date with Barcelona in the Champions League semi-finals.

Man City also have three players in the shortlisted six for PFA Premier League of the Year - Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva and Sergio Aguero, with Virgil van Dijk representing Liverpool.

The Citizens were on course for an unprecedented quadruple, but were surprisingly knocked out of the Champions League by Tottenham after a last minute disallowed goal by Sterling meant that the north London side scraped through on goal difference.

The Premier League is now the main priority for Guardiola and he believes that despite being in the driving seat, City's main rivals have the best team they have ever had in their history.

"The title is still in our hands," said Guardiola.

"Every day with this club and these players - it doesn't matter what happens next - we'll fight until the end," Guardiola told Match of the Day.

It may be the Spaniard's attempt at verbal mind games, however Pep did pay Liverpool potentially the best compliment he could, given their trophy-laden history.

"We'll see how far we get. We are fighting with the best Liverpool ever, one of the best teams I've seen in my life."

Despite dominating the 1970s - winning two European Cups, one FA Cup and five League titles - and 1980s - two European Cups, two FA Cups and six League titles, the Spaniard believes the current side is the greatest of them all. Astonishing.

City's 1-0 win over Spurs meant that they had overcome one of the hardest obstacles remaining, and the former Barcelona boss was fully aware of that.

"It was very important for the race for the Premier League. We know we cannot drop points," added Guardiola.
