It’s safe to say, Liverpool won’t want this season to end.

The Reds sit second in the Premier League, one point adrift of Manchester City with a win at Cardiff City today taking them back to top spot.

Moreover, Jurgen Klopp’s side have their sights on Champions League glory after booking their place in the semi-finals in mid-week, beating Porto 6-1 on aggregate.

However, it looks like the Merseyside club have got one eye on next campaign already.

That’s because Anfield will be getting another summer make-over ahead of the 2019-20 season.

For only the second time in 16 years, the famous turf will be relayed in the hopes of more success next season.

The last time the pitch was replaced was in 2017 following the completion of their new main stand.

And following the change, the Reds have been a driving force in Europe as this season’s Champions League semi-finalists reached the final last time around.

Anfield will play host to a number of concerts this summer with Take That, Bon Jovi and Pink all taking to the stage, potentially damaging the surface.

This is the driving force behind Liverpool’s plan to redo the pitch as 12,000 people, on top of tour lorries, will be entering the field during the summer.

However, with the curtain closing concert taking place in late June, the ground staff will be forced to race against time in order to get it done for August.

In the meantime, the Reds have also had to look at other venues to host their home pre-season friendlies.

And it seems Tottenham’s new state-of-the-art ground, which hosted its first game at the start of April, could be a likely temporary home, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Napoli are set to be the opposition and the match will be held in July following on from the Reds’ pre-season tour in America.

A friendly could still be played at Anfield if they hold fire until August.

However, if Liverpool are eligible to play in the Community Shield, they’ll face a trip to Wembley instead.
