Amir Khan and Kell Brook have been mooted to fight for years and it’s also a domestic clash that British boxing fans have been wanting to happen for a long time.

Brook branded Khan a quitter after watching his rival fail in a bid to strip Terence Crawford of his WBO welterweight title last night in New York.

Khan appeared to pull himself out of his showdown with Crawford following a strong hit with a shot below the belt in the sixth round.

Khan had already been dominated for the entire duration of the fight and Brook was quick to point out his British rival did not take the full five minutes allocated to recover.

Brook also predicts that the long-anticipated grudge match with Khan may now happen, following last night’s defeat in New York.

“I thought he quit, He had five minutes,” Brook told AB Boxing News, per The Metro.

“He just looked for a way out, he were getting beat in every department.

“He will fight me now, he’s got nowhere to go.”

Brook, who was in attendance at Madison Square Garden for Khan’s bout, last fought against Michael Zerafa in a point victory.

The fight between the British pair was nearly made toward the end of 2018, but Khan took a match-up with WBO welterweight title holder Crawford instead, inevitably losing the fight.

Following the defeat, Brook said about Khan: "He didn't look in the best condition to me and Crawford looked like he was oozing confidence and owned the platform."

Khan axed talks with Brook last year for their long-awaited showdown in favour of a bout with Crawford, and the 32-year-old admitted in his post-fight interview in the ring he will now consider his next step.

“It was a shot below the belt and I could feel it in my stomach and I couldn’t continue,’ Khan said explaining the stoppage.

“I’m a warrior and I wouldn’t give up a fight like this.”

“I’m going to go back to the drawing board and talk to my family and see where I go from here.”
