Manchester United suffered another bad defeat on Sunday as they were thrashed 4-0 by Everton.

The loss now means United have lost six of their last eight games and look set to miss out on the Premier League top four.

Neville was furious with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side both before and after the embarrassing defeat.

“I’m furious, to be honest," he said after watching United's loss, per the Telegraph. "The fact he [Solskjaer] had to apologise to the fans is embarrassing.

“I’ve often said that if clubs have weeds in the garden, you’ve got to get rid of them. But there is Japanese knotweed rotting that football club, and it’s attacking the foundations of the house that needs dealing with properly.

“Everton ran four kilometres further in the first half. Everton?! You die for every single inch on the pitch. It’s embarrassing just watching some of the players out there today. I’m absolutely furious. That performance was rancid.”

The 44-year-old did not mention any names in his post-match rant but later questioned a number of United's players in the Gary Neville podcast.

He defended Ashley Young amid recent criticism, before naming six players that are 'under-performing.'

"Don't pick on Ashley Young," he said. "He's the last person I would turn on.

"He goes out there week-in-week-out and gives it his all. He's hurting out there; I can see it.

"There are five forwards at the club: Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba.

"Star players those five that can be the best in their position. But all of them at this moment of time are well below their standard.

"Sanchez: I don't know what's happened to him.

"Marcus [Rashford] this last couple of weeks has been nowhere near. I went to both Barcelona games and he looks off it at the moment. He looks like he's carrying an injury at the moment, or something is not quite right, or the season has caught up with him.

"Lukaku: He doesn’t turn up in the big games. That’s been leveled at him for a number of years now.

"Pogba looks looks like he’s back to the Paul Pogba that was playing under Jose Mourinho, even though he’s been outstanding for the past three months.

"Martial has just come back from injury, but he looks like he’s back in that ambling mood once again."

Neville then mentioned David de Gea's recent form.

"De Gea looks nothing like. He looks distracted."

To be honest, nearly everything Neville has said is spot on.

United's best players have been well below par in recent weeks and the team is suffering as a result.
