Liverpool kept their Premier League title hopes alive with a 2-0 win at Cardiff on Easter Sunday.Following Manchester City’s 1-0 win against Spurs on Saturday, Jurgen Klopp’s side knew that nothing but a win was required in Wales. And it was nervy. As the game approached the hour mark, the Reds were struggling to break down the relegation-threatened side. That was until Georginio Wijnaldum thumped home following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s low cross.

But, somehow, Cardiff didn’t equalise when Sean Morrison failed to connect with a header with the goal gaping.

Minutes later, it was game over.

Morrison held onto Mohamed Salah for far too long, giving the Egyptian the opportunity to go to ground.

Referee Martin Atkinson pointed to the penalty spot.

But there was an argument over who would take the penalty.

James Milner has been so assured from 12 yards in a Liverpool shirt but Salah wanted it. After all, it was he who single-handedly won the penalty not to mention the fact one goal would put him top of the Golden Boot standings.

But a video emerged showing Milner literally having to snatch the ball out of Salah’s grip, leaving him looking rather disappointed.

Luckily, the club’s penalty taker stuck it away to give Liverpool a massive three points.

Milner wheeled away and mimicked using a walking stick in reference to Virgil van Dijk giving the 33-year-old some abuse for being old.

He was then mobbed by his Liverpool teammates.

But not Salah.

Fan footage has captured the reaction of last season’s PFA Player of the Year.

Salah almost looked disappointed as Milner scored his crucial penalty.

Roberto Firmino, Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane, Andy Roberton and Alexander-Arnold all go over to congratulate Milner and celebrate in front of the travelling Kop.

But not Salah. He starts to jog over before deciding better of it and turned to walk back to the halfway line, looking pretty dejected.

Of course, being so desperate to score a goal isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It shows Salah’s hunger to succeed.

But it certainly would have been nice to see him celebrate with the rest of his teammates, especially considering that it was such an important goal.
