Ronda Rousey is officially on a break from WWE, just a year after making her sports entertainment debut.

Despite signing a multi-year contract in 2018, it was always expected that Rousey would want to try and start a family at one point with her husband - UFC heavyweight Travis Browne.

Being the big star she is, Rousey clearly had some guarantees before she penned her deal, and in the weeks leading up to WrestleMania 35 it was clear that she was departing shortly after the event.

Having not being advertised for any events post-Mania, the expectation was she wouldn't be seen for a while, and that was confirmed by herself last week as she stated she was on an 'impregnation vacation'.

It seems as though Ronda wasn't supposed to stay as long as April 2019 though with WWE, as she's admitted her run was supposed to end in November 2018.

However the possibility of a WrestleMania main event meant that she prolonged her stay for another five months.

"I thought I'd only be able to wrestle from WrestleMania until November because we already wanted to start a family," Rousey said on her official vlog, per WrestlingInc.

"We came to the WWE as, 'Hey, before we have a baby, I just want to come do this for a couple of months because it's something I always wanted to do.' It just kind of snowballed.

"Instead of being like a small detour in my life, it became my whole life for an entire year and I completely fell in love with it.

"As time went on, we were kind of playing it by ear, I loved it so much and I ended up getting the title.

"When it became a real possibility that women could be the main event of WrestleMania if I stuck around, I decided to stick around.

"We decided that after WrestleMania, me and my amazing husband would go off and start trying to start our family."

Rousey is leaving her WWE future open. She said that she's not sure if she will return or not once she has a child because she has no idea how she'll feel until then.

Ronda has also made no promises as to when she will return to the ring, that's if she does at all, and if that's the case then she's no doubt had the best career of anyone in wrestling who only did it for one year.
