The Dutch national team have had limited success in recent times.Since coming in third place at the 2014 World Cup, they subsequently failed to qualify for both Euro 2016 and the 2018 World Cup in Russia. However, they are showing signs of a resurgence. They already have talented players such as Virgil van Dijk and Memphis Depay in their ranks. The current crop of stars have performed well recently, having guided the national team to the finals of the Nations League.

And there could be further success for Holland as they have a wave of top youngsters coming through.

Ajax's duo of Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong look like they could be a big part of the national team for the next decade, if not more.

And another youngster that will be looking to make his mark is Maxim Gullit.

The talented defender is the son of Ruud, who was one of the best midfielders of his generation.

Ruud played for the likes of AC Milan and Chelsea, won the Ballon d'Or in 1987 and helped Holland to European Championship glory in 1988.

And he's also the great-nephew of Johan Cruyff, considered to be one of the best players of all-time.

Gullit, 17, is currently on AZ Alkmaar's books and made his professional debut on Monday for their second team, who play in Holland's second tier.

He came off the bench in the 71st minute in a 0-0 draw against league leaders, Twente.

Ruud took to Instagram to declare how proud he was to see his son make his professional debut.

"40 years (!) after making my first minutes for Haarlem my son Maxim is following in my footsteps," he wrote.

"I can’t tell you how special this feels and how proud I am. And also that I was a lot more nervous this afternoon! An Easter I will never forget".

Maxim declared after the game that he was going to keep working hard.

"The debut is a very special moment," he said to Fox Sports, per Marca. "It doesn't bother me being the 'son of somebody'.

"I'm Maxim Gullit and I'm going to work hard to keep moving forward."

Time will tell whether the 17-year-old can be a household name like his father and his great-uncle.
