Paul Pogba has been heavily criticised for his recent performances at Manchester United. The Frenchman's season seems to have come full-circle with the same kind of comments that blighted his time under Jose Mourinho making a reappearance this month.Despite a brief renaissance upon Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's appointment, it seems Pogba has stagnated once again and his inclusion in the PFA Team of the Year sparked great controversy. There are even people who think Pogba should be sold by United this summer, a suggestion which isn't wholly unrealistic when Sky Sports are reporting Real Madrid's confidence.Jamie Carragher is certainly doubting the United man and wrote in his Telegraph column this week: "There would be one name on the top of my list [to sell]: Paul Pogba.

Recent Pogba criticism

"The Pogba phenomenon, his status as one of the greatest players of his age, is bewildering. His reputation exceeds his contribution.

"I have heard Pogba described as world class. Being a World Cup winner does not automatically make you that. There is a difference between a world-class talent and a world-class player."

Pretty cutting comments, although Carragher has been emphatically backed by United fans in the aftermath and it can only be imagined that Solskjaer has dished out some private criticism.

Pogba's walking statistics

However, even amongst all these difficult showings, the least that supporters expect is effort and some worrying statistics appeared on Sky Sports News this week.

Using statistics provided by Opta, they broke down how Pogba spends his time during matches with everything from walking, jogging, low speed running and high speed running.

The data remarkably showed that Pogba has averaged more time walking than any other central midfielder - of which there are 79 - in the Premier League this season at 64%.

Draw your own conclusions from the statistic, but it certainly doesn't real well for Pogba - check out the full breakdown here:

That means Pogba has spent 29.2 hours walking in the league this season.

The former Juventus man is also second bottom when it comes to jogging, but finds himself in a far more favourable position when we start to study strides and sprints.

The news comes just a few weeks after Solskjaer maligned the lack of running in his United team during the 4-0 defeat at Everton.

"That's the basics and basic ingredients in a team performance is running, desire, fitness," the United boss explained during a press conference.

"We know our fitness is nowhere near good enough. I can't wait to get a pre-season done. It's been fantastic to get to where we are, don't get me wrong and maybe that's...

"We've been chasing results and are close to the top four and we never envisaged you could be so close when you came in, but maybe it's caught up with us."

Solskjaer certainly won't be encouraged by the numbers that Pogba is producing.
