Lewis Hamilton has closed the door on any second coming once he finally leaves Formula One.

The current reigning world champion replaced Michael Schumacher at Mercedes in 2013 after the German had initially retired back in 2006, before a surprise return to the grid four years later.

A solitary podium position in three seasons marked a rather underwhelming comeback.

While Hamilton appreciates the pull of racing that enticed the seven-time World Championship winner to return – it’s a decision the Brit vows to avoid.

"Never say never, but I do not think that I will compete in other series," Hamilton told De Telegraaf, as pre GPFans.

"I don't see that happening. I will probably continue to ride the bike, but purely for fun.

"It will be very difficult to stop racing. There's a reason that Michael Schumacher returned in the past.”

While Hamilton harbours an interest in MotoGP, and recently described the all-electric Formula E series as "the future" - the failure of other sporting greats as they made their return to their respective fields is not lost on the Mercedes driver.

"I certainly won't do that. That is never a smart idea.

"Also see how that ended with Michael Jordan, it was a disappointment.

"I also learned from those examples, but it says something. It is an addiction that is very difficult to replace."

With fashion and music having long thought to be high up on his list of potential areas to move into, Hamilton also revealed another option he could explore.

"Let me put it this way: I am very interested in technology, how the world develops in that area.

"In the coming years, 130 million electric cars will be on the market in China. I find it very interesting to see things like that."
