Paris Saint-Germain's season took a very sour turn last night as they lost the French Cup final to Stade Rennais.
Thomas Tuchel's side cruised into a 2-0 lead thanks to an absolute rocket from Dani Alves and a lovely chipped effort from the returning Neymar.
But an own-goal from Presnel Kimpembe just before the break handed Rennes hope and they drew level in the second-half thanks to a goal from centre-back Mexer.
The game went to extra-time and PSG simply could not find the crucial third goal.
Their frustration was clearly high, with Kylian Mbappe actually sent off in the 118th minute for a disgraceful lunge on Damien da Silva.
- Messi lifted the La Liga trophy on his own
- Van Dijk tried to catch Alisson out with a shot
- Dani Alves' volley vs Rennes
All five designated penalty takers then converted their strikes, but Christopher Nkunku missed the first sudden-death spot kick for PSG, handing the cup to Rennes after Ismaila Sara had scored.
It means Tuchel's side end the season with just one domestic trophy, a poor achievement given PSG's resources.
And their main man Neymar could be facing a lengthy ban in France as well, because footage after the game appeared to show him lashing out at a Rennes supporter in the stands.
You can watch the footage below, but it doesn't look good for the Brazilian...
What the motive behind Neymar's actions were is still unknown, but it's likely he will handed a severe punishment by the French Football Federation.
While it may not have been a full on 'punch', he clearly lashes out at the supporter.
Neymar as recently handed a three-match Champions League ban by UEFA for his outburst over VAR following PSG's 3-1 loss at home to Manchester United.
With a domestic suspension now looking set to follow, the Brazilian could be spending the first part of next season watching on from the stands.
At least he has the Copa America with the Selecao in the summer...News Now - Sport News
