Man United fans cheered Aguero's goal

And this was on show at Old Trafford while Man City were playing Burnley in the 2.05pm kick-off.

Per football writer Daniel Storey, Man United supporters cheered when Sergio Aguero gave Pep Guardiola’s side the lead.

It’s an awful situation for Man United to be in. These supporters were so used to success under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Now, they are cheering when Man City - their rivals - score to hurt Liverpool’s title hopes.

Guardiola’s team held on for all three points as they took a huge leap towards defending their title.

City are now a point ahead of Liverpool with two games - at home to Leicester, away to Brighton - remaining on the schedule.

For Man United, it’s been a real eye-opener to see just how much better their two rivals have been compared to everyone else.

City will finish the season with 98 points should they win their final two games, two shy of the record total they reached last season.

And finishing on 97 points but still missing out on the title would just be unfair on Liverpool, but a reminder that they are the real deal.

Man United have plenty of work to do to catch up.
