Barcelona's La Liga dominance in the last decade has been nothing short of remarkable.

Despite competing in a league littered with the world's finest players and teams that have dominated the European scene, the Blaugrana have reigned supreme.

Barca have won eight of the last 11 league titles, with Real Madrid (2) and Atletico Madrid (1) the only teams capable of halting the Catalonian machine.

Since the turn of the millennium, the Blaugrana have also seriously bridged the trophy gap to Real Madrid.

Barca have won 34 trophies in the past 15 seasons, more than a third of their overall haul of 91.

And a lot of the club's recent success is down to one man; Lionel Messi.

It's no coincidence that Barca's success has coincided with the Argentine magician's career.

Messi has now won 10 La Liga titles after Barca sealed the league on Saturday evening thanks to a 1-0 win over Levante at the Camp Nou.

And Madrid-based paper Marca have now declared that this is well and truly the era of Messi and not even Real's Champions League titles - four in the last five years - can stop it.

Jaime Rincon writes: "For his transcendence in play, for the play shown during his reign on the turf, for the infinite number of magical goals which will never be forgotten by fans and for what he has won in terms of titles.

"Because Messi has also won four Champions League trophies.

"What's more, he collects league titles up to the point that it calls into a question a dominance which had lasted for decades and seemed impossible to question."

In the 15 years of the 'Messi era', Barca have collected six more La Liga titles and four more Copa del Rey trophies.

The Blaugrana could add a fifth Copa del Rey this season and Messi could also collect his fifth Champions League accolade.

Although Liverpool are sure to have something to say about that...
