Virgil van Dijk was named the PFA Player of the Year at an awards ceremony on Sunday night.
The Liverpool defender has scooped the Premier League’s top individual prize and it’s easy to see why he won the vote amongst his peers.
The Dutchman has been vital to his team’s title challenge, featuring in all 36 league games and helping them keep 18 clean sheets.
Liverpool have also conceded just 20 goals over the course of the campaign and perhaps most impressively, Van Dijk has never been dribbled past.
It’s fair to say that he deserves individual recognition – and after picking up his prize at the PFA awards ceremony, he received a special message from boss Jurgen Klopp.

“I hope you’re all better dressed than I am!” Klopp’s video began.
“I’m really proud it’s the second time in a row I can speak about a wonderful player who won the award for Player of the Season: Virgil van Dijk.
“Who would have thought that when he started back in Holland? I think not everybody saw immediately what kind of player hides in this giant body.
“But now the whole world is aware of that and I’m really happy I can be a little bit around that development. I would love to think it’s because of me!
“But obviously it’s not, he was already the player he is now when we bought him from Southampton.
“It all worked out. From the first moment I was so excited about the opportunity to work together and now you are the man – at least for this season!”
Although Klopp couldn’t be at the ceremony as he’s busy planning Liverpool’s title run in, he had the time to record a special message for his star defender.
With two games left in the season, both Van Dijk and his manager will be hoping to secure Liverpool’s first Premier League title – but that is out of their hands at the moment.
