Tottenham and Ajax clash in the Champions League semi-finals tonight having both qualified dramatically in the previous round and are one step away from a place in the final in Madrid.

Spurs may have lost 4-3 against Man City in the thrilling quarter-final second leg, but three goals away from home secured qualification in a quite breathtaking encounter. VAR assisted when it rightfully overturned a last-minute goal and the away side celebrated famously at the final whistle.

After their third defeat in four matches, manager Mauricio Pochettino claimed Spurs suffered from “stress and fatigue” in the loss to West Ham at the weekend, but you wouldn’t blame them if they had one eye on the upcoming European tie.

Their opponents were written off by many before the tie against Juventus, but Ajax won 2-1 in Turin, coming from behind to claim a famous victory after Cristiano Ronaldo’s opener and qualifying 3-2 on aggregate.

The Dutch side are embroiled in a fight for the title, one they have not won since 2013/14, finishing as runners-up the last four seasons. They currently lead PSV on goal difference courtesy of 111 Eredivisie goals in only 32 matches so are always a threat to score.

GIVEMEBET looks at the first leg encounter at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium:

  • Spurs have won eight of their last ten home Champions League matches and are currently in the midst of a four-game winning streak at home in the competition. During this streak, the hosts have only conceded one goal but they are suffering a striker crisis, with captain Harry Kane out through injury and South Korean Heung-Min Son missing due to suspension, so goals may well be tough to come by. Under 2.5 goals is 20/21.
  • Despite having the youngest starting age of the remaining teams and second youngest of all 32 teams in the competition, Ajax are unbeaten away from home this season in the Champions League. Victories over Real Madrid and Juventus in the knockout-out stages shows they will not be intimidated on the big stage and came of age with a sublime win in Turin. Ajax to win is 19/10.
  • If Ajax are to succeed, they will rely heavily on midfielder Dusan Tadic. The Serbian has been directly involved in nine goals in Europe this season, contributing six goals and three assists, and is second only to Lionel Messi, who has played a role in 13 goals in the competition. Tadic is 6/1 to score first and 4/1 to register an assist.
