Alan Shearer initially struggled in his role as a pundit and wasn’t popular among football fans. However, the Newcastle United legend has worked hard in recent years and is now one of the leading voices when it comes to football on British television.Shearer’s analysis has improved significantly with experience and he regularly makes interesting points in his role as one of Match of the Day’s lead pundits. The media’s gain has been football’s loss, though. As the Premier League’s all-time leading goalscorer, you’d imagine he would have plenty to offer in a coaching capacity.

However, it’s unlikely that we’ll ever see Shearer take another managerial role after he failed to keep his beloved Newcastle in the top flight back in 2009.

That’s not bad news for fans of televised football in the UK, mind.

Although Shearer is now very experienced in his role as a pundit, it doesn’t mean he’s immune from the dreaded slip of the tongue live on air.

And this is precisely what happened to Shearer recently while he was providing analysis on the Manchester derby for another broadcaster.

“I mean, at the minute – in terms of football teams – Man. United are f****d,” he said, before immediately realising his hilarious mistake and apologising.

Needless to say, the clip of Shearer has gone viral on social media.
