Anthony Joshua’s formerly scheduled opponent Jarrell Miller has been setback by a drug ban which will keep him out of boxing until September.

The American heavyweight had been set for a big-money showdown with Joshua on June 1.

Big Baby will be officially suspended by the WBA until September 19.

He will be withdrawn from the WBA rankings and in order to return to the sport, he will have to undergo random drug testing at his own expense and then further submit those results to the WBA.

Miller failed a total of three drug tests in the build-up to the fight with Joshua and some may consider the punishment for 'Big Baby' soft.

However, the promoter of the American, Greg Cohen, seems to believe the punishment of Miller is fair.

"It's appropriate, and we just look forward to moving on to bigger and better things in the future," he said, according to The Mirror.

"I don't think he has a choice [but to comply]. Certainly, by way of this resolution, he's required to, and I'm sure Jarrell will be compliant with the resolution."

Miller’s co-promoter also caused a stir by suggesting his drug ban may attract more spectators to his future fights, due to the ‘bad guy’ reputation.

Joshua hasn't escaped some criticism, however, as The Brit and his team have spent almost two weeks deciding on his next opponent.

It looks as though Joshua is now set to face off against Andy Ruiz Jr, that is likely to be announced today, to be taken place on the original date in New York on June 1.

Eddie Hearn, AJ’s promoter has suggested that Ruiz has confirmed personal terms and only a few formalities are preventing the announcement. Hearn has spoken out on what we can expect from the fight.

"He will entertain you, give it his all. Even if it means getting sensationally knocked out, he will rather do that than not do it," Hearn said.

"I couldn't afford a guy who I thought may not be good enough or game enough to entertain the fans. I had to pick a guy in my heart who I thought will do everything to become world heavyweight champion at the Garden."
