The 2018/19 Premier League season will be remembered for many years to come primarily due to it's title race.

Manchester City and Liverpool have been quite brilliant throughout the course of the season.

Unfortunately, only one team can win the title, and it is becoming increasingly likely that Man City will be able to hold off Jurgen Klopp's side.

Man City currently hold a one point lead with two games to go.

However, they've had to fight extremely hard to be in the position they are today.

Liverpool held a seven-point lead over Pep Guardiola's side at the turn of the year.

But City have been able to claw that disadvantage back. They have dropped points just once in 2019 in a 2-1 loss to Newcastle.

Liverpool, on the other hand, stuttered at the start of the year.

A loss to City on Jan 3 blew the title race wide open, and subsequent draws to Leicester City, West Ham United, Manchester United and Everton saw their lead relinquish.

It's these draws that could prove costly.

While the results against Leicester and West Ham were games they were expected to win, arguably the worst result of the bunch was against Man United.

United had an injury crisis leading up to the game, which was made even worse when they suffered three first half injuries.

But Liverpool were unable to take advantage and the game ended 0-0 at Old Trafford.

Paul Scholes has now looked back on that game and thinks Liverpool's 'biggest mistake' in the title race was being unable to come away from Manchester with all three points.

"When you look back, I think Liverpool's biggest mistake was not beating United at Old Trafford, when you see how many players United had missing," Scholes said, per the Premier League.

"I think they got three injuries [in that match]. Jesse Lingard came on and pulled his hamstring.

"Liverpool were really poor that day. You saw the difference the other night when City came to Old Trafford and were dominant and looked a really top team.

"I think Liverpool could have lost it at Old Trafford."
