Brock Lesnar may have fought for the last time inside the Octagon of UFC.

During a recent interview with ESPN, Dana White stated that he had spoken to the former UFC Heavyweight Champion last week about a return to the Octagon this summer.

Many UFC fans knew this return fight for Lesnar would be against Daniel Cormier for the UFC Heavyweight title, but it looks as though this clash will no longer take place.

White said to ESPN that the WWE superstar ha told him he's retired from mixed martial arts.

He said: "He told me he's done. He's retired."

If this is true, Lesnar ends his professional MMA career after 12 years, finishing with a fight record of 5-3 (1).

The highlights of Brock's MMA career include him winning the UFC Heavyweight Championship against Randy Couture at UFC 91 in November 2008, as well as defending it on two separate occasions vs Frank Mir at UFC 100 in July 2009 and Shane Carwin at UFC 116 in July 2010.

Against Carwin at UFC 116, he also won Submission of the Night for his arm-triangle choke in the second round of their contest.

Lesnar would eventually lose the UFC Heavyweight title to Cain Velasquez via TKO in the first round of their fight at UFC 121 in October 2010, bringing his title reign to an end after 707 days.

The WWE superstar's last UFC fight was back in July 2016 when he fought against Mark Hunt at UFC 200. He initially won the bout, but the result was later overturned after he tested positive for Clomiphene.

Brock was in attendance at UFC 226 in July last year when DC defeated Stipe Miocic for the UFC Heavyweight title. He confronted Cormier in the Octagon immediately after the knockout victory.

Many believed this was the foundation for Cormier to defend the title against Lesnar at a later date, possibly this summer. Lesnar had entered the UFC's mandatory anti-doping program ahead of a comeback as well.

However, according to White, Lesnar's return is no longer happening.

In the same interview, the UFC President stated they're close to finalizing a heavyweight title matchup between Cormier and Miocic for a pay-per-view event on August 17.
