Everybody ran out of superlatives for Lionel Messi a long, long time ago.The Barcelona maestro is arguably the greatest footballer of all time and has taken our breath away week-in, week-out for over 10 years now. It’s a privilege to watch the diminutive magician play - and it was no different on Wednesday night during the Champions League clash between Barcelona and Liverpool at Camp Nou.Messi, who was captaining Barça for the 100th time in this Champions League semi-final first leg, was in the mood from the very first minute.Although he wasn’t involved in the game’s opening goal - which was assisted by Jordi Alba and scored by Luis Suarez - he did produce arguably the best moment of the first half.

Messi, who drops a lot deeper than he used to these days, picked the ball up in the right-back position.

He then proceeded to skip past two Liverpool players with a brilliant run down the right wing.

The ball then went out for a throw-in, and Messi received the ball again after battling for a couple more Liverpool players.

He managed to get the ball to Suarez, whose cross was cleared.
