Barcelona have one foot in the Champions League final after thrashing off Liverpool at the Camp Nou.

Luis Suarez managed to open the scoring 26 minutes into the game, his first goal of the competition.

Liverpool fought back and pushed hard for an equaliser, but Marc-André ter Stegen kept out strikes from James Milner and Mohamed Salah.

And Barcelona pulled away in the final 15 minutes.

Lionel Messi tapped home after Suarez's effort hit the bar, before the Argentine wizard struck an incredible free-kick from 35 yards.

It could have been more, however.

Liverpool were desperate for an away goal and threw men forward in the closing stages of the game.

They were caught on the counter attack on more than one occasion in the last few minutes.

And, in the last attack of the game, they could easily have gone 4-0 down.

Barcelona countered and Messi looked to have set up Ousmane Dembele with an easy goal-scoring opportunity.

But, despite having time and space, Dembele scuffed his shot straight at Alisson.

It was a really poor miss and Messi simply couldn't believe it.

The Argentine forward walked a few yards before collapsing to the floor.

Whether Messi's reaction was out of exhaustion or from complete disbelief, it was still funny to watch.

He did sum up the reaction of many Barca fans who were watching the game.

Messi also lamented Dembele's late miss after the game.

"It was a clear chance, it would have been better to finish with four than with three," he said, per Sport.

"We know that it isn't over, we will go to a very difficult stadium to play at, the fans press a lot, but we are happy with our fantastic display.

"We played their game a little, they had a lot of rhythm, physicality, playing on the counter. We went into that and we're not as used to not having the ball. So we were a bit asphyxiated.

"Above all it was (good) not to concede goals. In the first half we were better, after that they pressed us, but without creating huge chances, but they didn't let us out.

"We maintained our clean sheet and scored two goals more."
