Arsenal host a Valencia side making their first European semi-final since being eliminated from the same competition in 2014 by Sevilla, who were then managed by current Arsenal boss Unai Emery.

It will be the Spaniard’s fifth appearance at this stage of the tournament, more than any other manager, progressing to the final three times and on each occasion his team would go on to lift the trophy.

While history may be on the Gunners’ side, current form is not as the hosts have lost three straight matches in the league, conceding nine in the progress, with their last victory coming in the second leg against Napoli in the quarter-finals.

Arsenal dispatched Napoli in convincing style, winning the home leg 2-0 to maintain their unbeaten home record throughout the competition and have only lost at home once in the last nine matches in all competitions.

Qualifying as lucky losers from the Champions League, where they were pitted against Juventus and Man United, Valencia arrive after suffering back-to-back defeats in the league.

They were, however, resounding winners in their all-Spanish quarter-final tie, beating Villareal 5-1 on aggregate, setting the tone with a 3-1 victory away from home in the first leg.

Arsenal will have to be wary of conceding an all-important away goal as Valencia netted 12 times in their last six away games.

GIVEMEBET takes a look at the intriguing match:

  • Arsenal are a force at home, scoring 24 times in their last ten outings at the Emirates, solidifying this in Europe - having kept nine clean sheets in their last 11 European games and conceding just four goals during that period. This has been against vastly inferior opponents in the Europa League though and Valencia certainly a step-up in competition with the Gunners conceding three times to Leicester, Wolves and Crystal Palace recently. Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals is 27/20.
  • At the Emirates Arsenal have dominated in 2019, averaging over 62% possession in their last ten at home. Not only do they control the ball they control the corner count and only three times have Arsenal conceded more corners than they have won. In fact, over this period the Gunners have tallied five or more corners in eight of the last ten matches. Over 4.5 Arsenal corners is 5/7
  • In eight their last ten away games Valencia have scored in the first half, on seven of those occasions they netted a solitary goal. Over 0.5 Valencia first-half goals is 29/20, or if you are feeling slightly braver, exactly one Valencia goal in the first half is 2/1.
