After Jarrell Miller failed a drug test ahead of his scheduled fight with Anthony Joshua, Dillian Whyte has claimed "legal cheating" is always happening within the heavyweight division.

Heavyweight contender Whyte has spoken out against what he sees as a significant level of performance-enhancing in the sport, even accusing compatriot Anthony Joshua of "legally juicing".

The 31-year-old has accused fighters of exploiting the systems by applying for Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUEs), which allows them to take substances which would have otherwise been banned.

“Look at it like this – there’s loads of fighters who are legally cheating,” Whyte said to the Mirror.

“There are many fighters on TUEs – Therapeutic Use Exemptions – who are legally juicing, the doctors just give it to them saying they’ve got asthma, they’ve got ADHD or whatever, and they’re legally juicing.

“That’s the bigger question in sport that needs looking into and needs shining a lot on, it’s TUEs, because you’d be shocked to see how many fighters are on stuff.”

Whyte even went on to somewhat defend Miller, claiming the American likely only breached the rules because he believed Joshua was too.

“I think he’s thinking ‘I’m fighting a juice man so I’m getting on the juice too’,” Whyte continued. “He kept on going on about Joshua’s therapeutic use exemptions so he knows Joshua’s on the TUEs.

“He’s thinking ‘boy, I’m gonna make my own TUEs up!’ He knows Joshua’s on TUEs so he probably just got scared.

“It’s a big fight and he doesn’t want to get hurt, he probably just got scared and thought, ‘shit I’m going to get killed, I’d better do something drastic!’”

Neither Joshua or his team have responded to Whyte's claims publicly.

Despite his strong stance on the matter, Whyte himself failed a drug test in 2012 and was given a two-year ban after testing positive for a banned stimulant methylhexaneamine (MHA).

Whyte claimed he made an "honest mistake" and never intended to gain any unfair advantage over his opponent.

The allegations from the Jamaican-born boxer perhaps come from first hand experience of AJ's power, having been handed his only career loss by the unified world heavyweight champion in December 2015.

Having been knocked out by Joshua, Whyte returned with nine straight wins, including a controversial points win over Kiwi fighter Joseph Parker last July.

Joshua also holds a decision victory over Parker, claiming the Kiwi's WBO belt in a unification clash in Cardiff last year.

Whyte returns to the ring on July 20 against unbeaten Colombian Oscar Rivas at the O2 in London, hoping for a world title shot against AJ or WBC title holder Deontay Wilder.
