The 2018-19 Premier League title race has been fascinating.

That’s if you’re a neutral. Manchester City and Liverpool supporters have been on an emotional rollercoaster.

The lead at the top has changed hands 30 times and there is just one point in it with two matches remaining.

Liverpool desperately need Man City to slip up, though given their recent performances it’s hard to see that happening.

Pep Guardiola’s side have been simply relentless, winning 12 straight league games to leave them on the brink of back-to-back titles.

Man City simply couldn’t afford to drop points and they haven’t, coming through against Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United since February in an extremely impressive run.

Factor in the 2-1 win against Liverpool in January and City now have the title in sight.

Crouch: This City is the PL's best ever

The Etihad Stadium outfit will finish the campaign on 98 points should they defeat Leicester and Brighton, just two points shy of the record tally they set in 2017-18.

While they’ve been beaten four times this season - Liverpool have lost only once - there’s still a case to be made for this City side being the best in Premier League history.

And it’s one that Peter Crouch fully believes in.

The Burnley striker believes Guardiola’s squad trumps Arsenal’s ‘Invincibles’ and Man United’s treble-winning side of 1999.

“City are relentless,” Crouch told the Daily Mail. “They are the best team of the Premier League era.

“Better than Arsenal's 'Invincibles' and Manchester United's treble winners.

“The title is in their hands.

“If Liverpool do finish second, there is no disgrace in that.”

Man City crashed out of the Champions League in the quarter-final stage but have already landed the Carabao Cup.

And they will compete for the FA Cup against Watford on May 18.

Arsenal and Man United supporters will fight their case, but this City team is extraordinary.
