Liverpool supporters want Lionel Messi to be banned for the second leg of their Champions League semi-final tie.

A petition has been created to punish the Barcelona star for ‘punching’ Fabinho at Camp Nou.

The petition, which is headlined, ‘Get Messi a retrospective ban for clearly punching Fabinho in the head,’ has reached more than 10,000 signatures.

It was created by someone calling themselves ‘Messi AFraud’, who complains: “So basically Messi gets a freekick for punching Fabinho in the head and scores it, I feel like this needs to be looked at by UEFA.”

Messi missing the return fixture would make Liverpool’s hopes of recording a miracle comeback easier.

But still, a petition? That’s very desperate.

Yet it turns out that Barcelona fans also want retrospective action taken following Wednesday’s match.

Barcelona fans want Mane banned

They have started a petition to get Sadio Mane banned ‘for slapping Arturo Vidal’.

Mehrullah Baloch started the petition on change.org. He writes: “Sadio Mane should get a ban for the second leg of Semi-finals as he slapped Arturo Vidal for no reason!”

At the time of writing, it’s received close to 2,000 signatures.

You can check out the incident in question below.

It’s certainly not a slap, although the Liverpool forward does raise a hand to Vidal’s face.

Liverpool supporters had several complaints during the match, including a penalty appeal turned down after Mane was brought down by Gerard Pique.

They also didn’t enjoy watching Messi roll around theatrically after James Milner clattered into him.

Those incidents, as well as the 3-0 defeat, all contributed to a disappointing evening for Jurgen Klopp’s team.

Messi's brace and Luis Suarez's goal puts Barcelona in the driving seat as they attempt to win the Champions League for the first time since 2015.

Liverpool will be left needing to score five goals at Anfield on Tuesday if the Blaugrana manage just one goal.
